We Love Hummingbirds!

Hummingbirds are a joy & a wonder.

Hummingbirds are amazing and a wonder to watch. My first encounter with a hummingbird was so thrilling. I was in my yard one morning watering my grass. I had a garden hose spraying around. Suddenly, a hummingbird came right up to me and was flying around in the sprinkling water. It's true indeed that hummingbirds are not bashful. They don't mind zipping right up next to a human for food or water.

Since that day I started putting out hummingbird feeders and they always come back in the Spring. I thoroughly enjoy them and look forward to their return each year.

Hummingbird Notes:

Hummingbirds are the smallest bird. The can fly in all directions. They're perfectly designed with what they need for life and survival. Their specially made bill and tongue made to reach deep into flowers to get the nectar they need for the energy they require for flying. The beating of hummingbirds' wings (50 to 80 times per second) requires lots of energy and lots of nectar.

Hummingbirds are not bashful. They are not afraid to feed from your hand. They may give you a scare though when they fly by at lightning speed, making that amazing humming sound with their wings.
